Basically, the name comes from the Battle of Emsdorf which was fought in 1760 during the Seven Years War in present day Germany. A William Erskine was knighted for his role in this battle and his son (also William Erskine) feued the land around the area of Lundin Links shown above and named the new village 'Emsdorf' - probably to commemorate his father's victory.
