The village of Lundin Mill grew up around the Keil Burn, between the point where it is joined by the Hatton Burn and its outflow into the sea. Probably, different mills have existed in the vicinity at different points in time over hundreds of years. The mill shown to the right side of the above postcard and magnified below, appears on a 1775 map and crops up in newspaper archives thereafter as a 'Flour and Barley Mill', an 'Oat and Barley Mill' or simply a 'Flour Mill'.
The mill buildings were badly run-down by the early 1970s. Fortunately, in the mid 1970s the mill was restored and converted into a dwelling house for Dr A Balingall by local architects. Buildings higher up on Largo Road appear behind the mill in the postcard image, which probably dates from around the turn of the century.

It's hard to believe today, but Hillhead Street was at one time the main shopping street in the village. The tall building towards the left edge of the postcard (magnified here) with the trees behind it, is 24 Hillhead Street. You can make out a sign on its left gable end below the chimney.
This was for many years a grocer's shop and even now you can just about make out the faded painted words "Wines and Spirits" and "Groceries" above the ground floor windows.
