The Courier of 14 August 1903 gave an account of a deputation to Sir John Gilmour of "feuars and others desirous of promoting a Bowling and Tennis Club at Lundin Links". The account goes on to say that "a site was tentatively fixed in the field east of Homelands, adjoining the Leven Road, and occupying a very accessible and central position." A sub-committee was appointed to look at costs and "the best means of procedure".
The tennis courts (and bowling green) were finally officially opened on 28 July 1905, on the site proposed in 1903. The next day's Courier gave coverage of the opening ceremony...
"The attractiveness of Largo Bay as a summer resort was further enhanced yesterday afternoon in the opening by Sir John and Lady Gilmour, Montrave, of a bowling green and tennis court at Lundin Links. The occasion drew a large and fashionable assemblage of residents and visitors."
