Just a few years before this c1905 view was captured by a photographer from George Washington Wilson & Co, this road junction would have looked unrecognisably different. None of the three principal buildings in the photograph (the hotel, the pharmacy and the Post Office) would have been there a decade previously. The Lundin Links Pharmacy, just right of centre, is looking particularly fresh and clean in the picture. Up until the mid 1890s, the old inn would have stood immediately in front of the hotel site, right up against the road. Old cottages would have run from the pharmacy corner down Emsdorf Street and the Old Toll House would have been on the Post Office site.

The quality of the photography means that great detail of these buildings is visible. Both the Public Bar entrance and the main entrance of the Lundin Links Hotel can be seen, in their original state. Below, the actual goods on sale in the Pharmacy and in the Post Office are discernible. The Lundin Links Pharmacy was originally run by Andrew Hogg while the Post Office was run by Miss Margaret Bremner.
